Mike Demarest
Talent Advocate- Texas, Board Member
Recruiting is more than just identifying someone for a job. It’s an opportunity to change a person’s life and make a direct impact to the businesses and economies we support. Mike understands this importance and uses these opportunities as motivation throughout his 20- year Talent Acquisition career. After completing a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Baylor University in Waco, TX; he joined the third-party agency side of the recruitment industry. Throughout the next six years, he managed onsite RPO accounts, established key clients, and turned an under-performing branch office profitable. This early foundational experience is the reason for Mike’s customer first approach today, along with a belief that a sense of urgency and activity breeds success. Shifting to Corporate TA alignment in 2007 brought the chance to implement the first corporate Talent Acquisition COE for ConocoPhillips, and later the split of that function during the Phillips 66 spin-off. Leading and Managing corporate TA functions brought opportunities like ATS configurations and outreach/candidate experience focused projects. Today, Mike is Talent Acquisition Manager at Siemens responsible for a team supporting two major US businesses. Siemens has allowed him to further enhance his experience running major global technology and organizational development projects while focusing on creating the best candidate experience possible.
